Tasting Room Team Member

 

Overall Description: The Tasting Room at Maine Beer Company is looking for someone that loves craft beer and values a positive work environment.  This individual must exhibit excellent customer service and demonstrate a strong work ethic.  Additionally, you will be expected to maintain a friendly and positive atmosphere while working hard to achieve daily tasks.  Qualified individuals should embrace hospitality and will be expected to work weekends and closing shifts.  Experience in the craft beer industry and/or restaurant experience is strongly encouraged.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Keep bar in a busy fast-paced environment.
  • Must be friendly and outgoing, and provide a welcoming environment to patrons and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must communicate well with peers, customers and supervisors.
  • Must take initiative and demonstrate efficiency while learning new tasks and skills.
  • Stock cooler with bottled beer consistently throughout the day.
  • Clean Tasting Room thoroughly as needed throughout the day (floors, tables, windows, fixtures, coolers, etc.).
  • Maintain cleanliness of restrooms throughout the day.
  • Assist with Tasting Room events.
  • Draft line cleaning and equipment cleaning experience is a plus but will be taught to hired employees.
  • Must be able to lift a 5 gallon keg (65 pounds).
  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment.

Job hours/benefits:

  • Hours are full-time including nights and weekends. The job is paid hourly based on experience. All full–time Maine Beer Company employees receive an excellent benefit package including 3 weeks paid vacation, health insurance, and year-end bonus eligibility.

 

Food Service Line Cook

 

Overall Description: The Food Service Line Cook at Maine Beer Company is responsible for creating and maintaining the highest quality food experience for all customers.  Providing the best possible experience for every patron and abiding by the values of MBC are of the highest priority.  The food service line cook reports directly to the Food Service Operations Manager.  The following is a list of responsibilities for this role, with the understanding that additional responsibilities may be added at any time.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Stocking and preparing stations for service of wood-fired pizza and other food at Maine Beer Company
  • Maintaining food service area and prep kitchen cleanliness throughout shift
  • Abiding by dress code applicable to food safety
  • Maintain communications with food service manager and other coworkers
  • Cleaning and maintenance of all equipment used for food service at MBC
  • Maintain a positive attitude and cooperative work environment
  • Keep Tasting Room clean and tables bussed at all times
  • Keep food service flow smooth and time sensitive
  • Perform daily opening and closing tasks as needed
  • Follow standard operating procedures for operating the pizza oven and all additional equipment
  • Build pizza boxes
  • Stocking dry and perishable goods (rotating goods FIFO-first in first out)
  • Stocking firewood and assuring wood stays dry

Job compensation/benefits:

Facilities Maintenance Employee

 

Overall Description: Maine Beer Company is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Facilities Maintenance Employee. Primary job responsibilities include keeping the brewery/office building maintained and looking new. The employee will report to the Plant Operations and Facilities Manager and follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and maintenance schedules. Additional projects will be assigned as necessary.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Cleaning various areas of the facility including offices, employee area/kitchen, building grounds, and the brewery.
  • Vacuuming, dusting, washing windows, cleaning restrooms, and handling trash/compost/recyclables.
  • Additional duties include making minor repairs and painting throughout the facility to keep up a fresh appearance, as well as light landscaping.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50-pounds
  • Must be comfortable on ladders, and spending much of the day on your feet
  • The ideal candidate will have light construction experience (carpentry, painting) and good mechanical aptitude
  • The ideal candidate will be someone willing to take the initiative to undertake projects with guidance/assistance from the Plant Operations and Facilities Manager
  • Attention to detail is very important, as well as some schedule flexibility (occasional night or Saturday/Sunday work is necessary)

Job hours/benefits

  • The position is 40-hours per week and paid hourly. Generally working hours are from 7am to 3pm, Monday thru Friday. Benefits include health insurance, three weeks of paid time off, and access to retirement benefits (401K)

Packaging Technician

 

Overall Description:  Maine Beer Company is dedicated to producing the best beer possible.  We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our Packaging Team within the Production Department to conduct daily packaging operations (bottling and kegging beer).  First and foremost, the candidate must have a positive attitude and work well with others as a member of a small company.  Position is full time and based in Freeport, Maine.  Salary is dependent on experience.  Excellent benefits package including 3 weeks paid vacation.

Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Brewing Operations and the Director of Quality, and under the supervision of the Packaging Manager, to ensure that high quality standards are met in all packaging operations
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow safe work practices
  • Adhere to Maine Beer Company’s packaging SOPs to complete daily packaging responsibilities
  • Adhere to appropriate SOPs to ensure minimal oxygen pick-up during packaging operations (e.g. capping on foam, monitoring DO during kegging, etc.)
  • CIP of tanks, hoses, etc.
  • Assist other production personnel (brewers and cellar operators) as needed
  • Drive truck to deliver trailers with spent grain to local farms
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks of packaging equipment as needed
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks of packaging equipment and work areas as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Production brewery experience, particularly in the packaging discipline highly preferred
  • Ability to multi-task while working safely and efficiently
  • Ability to follow established SOPs
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs repeatedly and work standing on concrete floors for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision
  • Has excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • A positive attitude and willingness to help co-workers when needed
  • An individual that takes initiative, is proactive and is self-motivated
  • Is meticulous about sanitization, and has an appreciation for keeping things clean
  • Has great attention to detail
  • Schedule flexibility (e.g. able to work late when needed, able to accommodate changing/rotating schedules)
  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus
  • Electric pallet jack / fork lift experience a plus but willing to train the right individual
